Christmas and New Year at Cliveden is simply magical. In the crisp December air, the warmth of the roaring fire in the Great Hall, the giant Christmas tree and abundant decorations have never looked so inviting. Since the days of Nancy Astor and before, Cliveden has celebrated this time of year with a style, grace and comfort simply forgotten anywhere else. From the moment you arrive along the spectacular torch-lit drive, you are welcomed as a very special guest of a great country house. Cliveden continues the English tradition of roaring grand fires, elegant decorations; of beautiful luxurious bedrooms and gourmet eating and drinking.
Christmas Eve
Monday 24th December 2007
On arrival you are personally greeted by a footman and shown to your beautifully appointed room, full of the original antiques and works of art.
Once you have settled in, we welcome you with traditional afternoon tea, served to the piano accompaniment in the Great Hall. Early evening there’s the opportunity to meet new friends and old during a Champagne and canapé reception.
A black-tie five course gourmet dinner is served, with wine to compliment chosen by our Head Sommelier. As midnight approaches, guests can attend Mass at the local parish Church of St Nicolas in Taplow, returning to the House for hot chocolate and warm mince pies before retiring.
