Built in the early 1600s, The Swan has an impressive patio, along with a balcony for a further 40 people. History has it that prisoners were brought here for a final drink before being taken to the hanging tree at Marble Arch! Hence the origin of the sayings 'one for the road' which is the last drink ever and 'on the wagon' which refers to being taken away for the last time.

On a happier note, they are now renowned for excellent food which includes many homemade dishes and a Carvery. There is also good quality wine to complement the meal or a fine selection of draught beers and real ales available at the bar.
