The Albert Pub Party Christmas Day 2008

This distinguished pub was rebuilt in 1865 and is a Grade II listed building that has survived the Blitz. The large ground-floor bar is smart, comfortable and bright; the huge etched and cut glass windows allow the daylight to flood in and at night, original gas lamps burn outside. The bar counter is a made from heavy, highly polished mahogany and is topped with a clock.

An ornate staircase leads to the restaurant and on the walls hang portraits of British Prime Ministers, from Salisbury, to an autographed one of Blair. Mrs Thatcher even unveiled her own here.
